Episode 13 of In the Loop: Colorado Filmmaking features interviews, panel discussion and technology presentations at the Digital Media Convergence Symposium at the 2010 Boulder International Film Festival on Feb. 12. Correspondent Carri Wilbanks meets the filmmakers and media artists, with In the Loop crew: Cameraman Steve Wash, Segment Producer/Director Joe Senart, Grip/Wrangler Jim Greer, and Editor Tanya Ishikawa.

Film Festivals in Colorado Springs and Boulder on In the Loop Episode 12

On Wednesday, March 3, we premier our 12th episode of In the Loop, featuring the Greater Colorado Short Circuit Invitational Film Series from Colorado Springs and the filmmakers’ panel from the Boulder International Film Festival. In the Loop Cameraman Steve Wash interviews the Short Circuit organizers on January 27, and filmmakers Sarah Lotfi and Dillon Novak share their clips on our show. Later, In the Loop Correspondent Carri Wilbanks interviews filmmakers from the Boulder festival on Feb. 13.

Six Films & Two Festivals on Episode 11!

On Episode 11 of In the Loop: Colorado Filmmaking, Host Scott Rinehart welcomes three sets of filmmakers, interviews Boulder International Film Festival representative Ron Bostwick, and introduces crew member Francine Wade. We get a sneak peek at six films and visit the 3rd Annual Festivus Film Festival. In the studio, Kris Hipps and Patrick Mann of Paper Cat Films talk about their upcoming short, Skeletons. Mark Dissette and Jay Wyss fill us in on their feature documentary, There's Still Hope for Dreams...A PHAMALy Story, and Dan Liechty and Marty Lindsey tell us about their award-winning mockumentary, Race Walkers.

 

Episode 11 crew includes Dx Duff, Natascha Rinehart, Scott Rinehart, Joe Senart, Francine Wade, and Steve Wash. In the Loop is produced, directed and edited by Tanya Ishikawa. This episode was taped Jan. 15-19, and aired for the first time on February 3, 2010 (shows on Comcast Channel 56 every Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. in February).

In the Loop: Colorado Filmmaking invited the filmmakers from Asgard Entertainment into the studio to for a unique green screen interview, featuring never-before-seen footage from their upcoming fantasy adventure film, Gathering of Heroes. Director/Writer/Actor Mark Grove is in the studio with actor and business partner, Trygve Lode, and actress Sara Salazar. Also in the studio is Bob LaRue of Gryllus Glyphics with his festival favorite, Adobo. LaRue talks about his short comedy as well as his work at Boulder Community Media, Fairview High School and LaRue Magic.

For November, In the Loop is featuring major coverage of Denver's own Starz Denver Film Festival. This year, there are 21 Colorado-linked films in the festival from full-length award-winning documentaries to creative shorts that have been national festival favorites.

 

Our first episode in the festival coverage was taped Nov. 10 and premiered on Opening Night of the festival on Nov. 12. In this 30-minute special, In the Loop Host Scott Rinehart interviews Starz Denver Film Festival Director Britta Erickson about the 32nd annual event and her documentary, Convention. Mateos Alvarez also joins Scott in the studio to talk about his documentary, Swift Justice. Besides clips of both Colorado-made documentaries, the episode features three more clips from films in Colorado or by Colorado natives: Split Estate, Two Spirits, and Con Artist. The show ends with a full listing of the Colorado films scheduled in the festival.

“The Long Journey Home” and “Childhood Fears” on In the Loop: Colorado Filmmaking Episode 6

 

For the September show, Emmy-award winning journalist Tamara Banks joins In the Loop: Colorado Filmmaking Host Scott Rinehart with her documentary, "The Long Journey Home," about slavery in Darfur in southern Sudan. Also in the studio are Cameron Roubique, Derek Frank and Brandon Martin with their short horror film "Childhood Fears," which is showing at the Estes Park Film Festival this month.

 

Watch “The Long Journey Home” episode at 11 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17 on Comcast Channel 56 and live streaming at www.denveropenmedia.org. The show will air every Thursday night at 11 p.m. from Sept. 17 to Oct. 8 on Comcast Channel 56 and on www.denveropenmedia.org/livestream.      In August, In the Loop welcomed the film score composers of "The Brothers Bloom," Nathan Johnson (formerly of Denver) and Denver-based China Kent, into the studio to talk about making music for movies. The international theater hit stars Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel Weisz and Rinko Kukuchi. Danny Diaz of Modest Moose Productions is also in the studio with actor Rocky Romo and director of photography Tim Hardy. The three local filmmakers discuss the short “The Drama Kids” and the documentary “The Lost Reunions” with In the Loop host Scott Rinehart.

In July, In the Loop featured the filmmakers from "The Cove" in the studio for a special feature on the amazing documentary, exposing dolphin killing in a small cove in the village of Taiji, Japan. Director Louie Psihoyos, associate producer Charles Hambleton and cinematographer Eric Abramson talked with In the Loop host Scott Rinehart in this show taped on May 30 for July and August air dates, near the film's nationwide release on July 31 and Colorado screenings throughout August.
